Local schoolchildren sing with the choristers of 澳门六合彩开奖接口 and St Catharine鈥檚 College

Last Saturday over 50 local boys and girls enjoyed singing workshops and a concert with the choristers of Jesus and St Catharine鈥檚 Colleges.

The children attended workshops with vocal experts before they joined the choristers to perform a concert in 澳门六合彩开奖接口鈥檚 beautiful Chapel. With ages ranging between 6 and 11, most of the children had very little formal musical experience before the day.

Mark Williams, Director of Music at 澳门六合彩开奖接口, said: 鈥淭he opportunity to join a choir should be available to children from all schools and all backgrounds, whether or not they have previous musical training or a religious faith. The Choirs of 澳门六合彩开奖接口 and St Catharine鈥檚 are uniquely involved in the Cambridge community. We recruit our choristers locally, and they continue to attend their own schools and live at home.

鈥淎t Saturday鈥檚 event, the children attended two workshops with an essential break for juice and biscuits to make sure they could concentrate! They then took part in a 45 minute concert, which was open to all, and performed the pieces they had learnt earlier in the day.鈥

鈥淲e hope that our event will encourage the children who took part to explore singing further, whether with a College choir or elsewhere. Cambridge has countless wonderful opportunities for all children and adults to sing.鈥

The biannual 鈥楽inging Day鈥 was run in aid of charities Bella鈥檚 Fund, which supports Paediatric Gastroenterology Research at Addenbrooke鈥檚 Hospital.
